The International Riding Steer
Assn. began as a simple web sight,
www.ridngsteers.com. The sight was created by Jauson back in 2000 because
no real information could be found on the internet regarding training, buying,
or feeding the riding bovine. As time went on articles were posted to
the sight and a message board was put up so that others could share
information and learn from each other.
With in a year members of
Riding Steers.com thought it was time to form an organization to record the
accomplishments of their animals and to trace cows and bulls that have
consistently produced animals with temperament and confirmation making them
sound riding or working animals.
In 2001 The International
Riding Steer Assn. was founded, with somewhere around 25 members. Most of the
members at that time were located in the United States and most owned Texas
Longhorn steers.
Today, just 6yrs later 50% of
our members reside in the United States and 50% in scattered countries across
the world. Less then 50% of our members now own Texas Longhorn cattle. The
diversity of the IRSA has greatly benefited it, and our members.
Today we register cows, bulls
and steers. We are blessed with active members from all over the world that
share their ideas, training skills and local customs.
We have developed an awards
program that is designed to meet the needs of our members. Members are
encouraged to request programs that fit their individual needs, thus programs
range from calf-hood programs all the way to classical dressage and jumping.
The IRSA Young Riders program
encourages young people from all over the world to share culture, livestock
raising practices, and friendships we hope will last a lifetime.
The International Riding Steer
Assn. is unique in the world as livestock registries go. We hope to continue
the diversity and exchange as it develops into a place that members call home.
